FOR
OLD MEN
by
Cormac McCarthy
No Country For Old Men, begins in the dessert of texas where a man after a failed hunting attempt comes across several dead men, heroin, and $2 million dollars in cash. After seeing the dead men's fate, he flees the area as quickly as possible taking the money and a couple weapons with him. Leaving one sole survivor to die a slow painful death. After realizing what he did wrong, Llewelyn Moss soon returns to the scene of the crime to help the stranded man. However once there he realized that the man has been shot again, and that the people who had killed him have been waiting. The remainder of the book revolves around the cat and mouse chase as Moss tries to outrun the drug trade and the psychopathic killer that they sent after him.
I would greatly recommend no Country For Old Men to all of my classmates for the following reasons:
EXCITEMENT: This violent and action packed book, is loaded with tons of blood, murder and gore, that made it hard for any reader to put down. Obviously this book is appealing to the male audience, but also would be a great read for someone who just doesn't like reading. The book creates excitement and awe as you read on, and really makes it a hard to put down kind of book. The book also contains many small foreshadowing and metaphoric sections, such as even the first scene where we notice the antelope running constantly away from its prey.
DETAILS: The plot, characters, and small scenes in the book are greatly developed and make each part of the book special. We notice a different action from each character and also on how they affect the books progression. The details in Cormac's writing give you a first person sight into the eyes of the book as you can actually see the "dark and crusty blood." Dripping from the glass shield.
No Country For Old Men, was made into a movie in 2007, that developed into a major motion picture and won best picture of the year. If i were to make this movie again i would first focus on the detail consumption. Constantly i hear people crying "the book was better," but i would hope to reverse that order. Simple detail as Cromac showed in the book could turn a good movie, into a great movie.
If i were to cast one or two major character from my book in a movie, i would choose the following actors for these reasons:
I Would cast Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh. Javier in real life did play the part of Anton Chigurh. I however knowing this would not change a thing. Javier remains a still unknown actor. This to me is a good factor because then they cannot relate him to his older movies. The role that he plays is a very creepy and scarry one. Not many actors today have the ability to scare the audience just as much as the other characters in the movie. His creepy, large figure portrays the perfect comparison to many minds after reading the book.
I would also cast Daniel Day-Lewis for the part of Llewelyn Moss. I would do this because Daniel Day-Lewis, as the superb actor that he is, has the ability to change from emotion to emotion on stage. This is very good for the character of Moss because Moss suffers allot of trauma in the novel but also remains with a sturdy figure. The abilities that Daniel Day-Lewis showed in one of his previous movies, "Gangs Of New York." portrayed the prefect resemblance between moss and Bill Cutting.

I have seen the movie and I would agree that the cast of characters you have chosen would only enhance the film. From what you wrote this book sounds like a very good read. Judging on what I saw from the movie I would agree that is was mainly for the male audience. Sounds like an excellent written book and I will have to look for it.
